Two injured in Gorbals street samurai sword fight

Two 30-year-old men were injured in a fight in a residential area of Glasgow in which a samurai sword was used.

The attack, involving six men, happened on Queen Elizabeth Gardens in the Gorbals at about 2245 GMT on Saturday.

Strathclyde Police said they found "a number of offensive weapons", including the samurai sword and golf clubs.

The injured men were taken to hospital with face lacerations and head injuries, which were not thought to be life threatening.

Officers are trying to find the four other men involved in the fight and have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

Det Con Christopher Sneddon, from Strathclyde Police, said: "This incident occurred in a residential area and I'm sure people in that area will have been aware of the violent attack taking place outside their doors.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything to please get in touch with us."
